Free Crochet Pattern and Photos for the 

Easy Stretch Beanie

What you will need

– 100g of chunky yarn (bulky) i used paintbox yarn.

– 6mm crochet hook.

– Sewing needle.

– scissors.

– Pom (optional)

Abbreviations 

Ch – Chain

Sc – Single crochet

Slst – Slip stitch

BLO – Back loop only

 

Pattern
Woman
To start – Ch 39.
Row 1 – ch 1, working in BLO sc in each ch across (38)
Row 2 – repeat row 1 until you have a total of 58 rows.
Once you reach the end of row 58 join it along the beginning ch edge with slst’s making your work look like a long tube.
Fasten off leaving a tail for closing the top of the hat (the side that the long tail of yarn is on)
you should see small ‘holes’ these are what you weave your darning needle into in a draw string like fashion to close your hat. this will stop your hat from looking to bunched. *note – you may want to use two strands of yarn on this part to make it tight and secure.
Now your hat is closed weave in the ends and fold over the rib to finish your hat.
You may now add your pom (optional).
Man
To start – Ch 41.
Row 1 – ch 1, working in BLO sc in each ch across (40)
Row 2 – repeat row 1 until you have a total of 60 rows.
Once you reach the end of row 60 join it along the beginning ch edge with slst’s making your work look like a long tube.
Fasten off leaving a tail for closing the top of the hat (the side that the long tail of yarn is on)
you should see small ‘holes’ these are what you weave your darning needle into in a draw string like fashion to close your hat. this will stop your hat from looking to bunched. *note – you may want to use two strands of yarn on this part to make it tight and secure.

Row 2 – repeat row 1 until you have a total of 54 rows.
Once you reach the end of row 54 join it along the beginning ch edge with slst’s making your work look like a long tube.
Fasten off leaving a tail for closing the top of the hat (the side that the long tail of yarn is on)
you should see small ‘holes’ these are what you weave your darning needle into in a draw string like fashion to close your hat. this will stop your hat from looking to bunched. *note – you may want to use two strands of yarn on this part to make it tight and secure.
